One of the key components of Black Pepper Oil is an alkaloid called piperine, which gives black pepper its unique biting quality.
Studies have discovered that piperine contains several potential health benefits and pharmacological effects that could allow it to be used for various conditions.
Black pepper essential oil (Piper Nigrum) is also a favourite for diffusing, as its warm, spicy aroma helps create a relaxing environment to combat stress and anxiety.
Topical application of black pepper oil can help reduce sore and aching muscles and inflammation. Dilute in a carrier oil before topical application (ex, MCT, grapeseed, jojoba). Massaging a diluted solution into the abdomen can also be effective at easing some IBS-related symptoms and similar conditions.
The word 'pepper' is derived from the Latin piper, taken from the Sanskrit word pippali. It has been used by the Greeks and Romans. The Turks levied a tax on pepper, while during the Middle Ages, the Dutch, the French and the Portuguese often went to war to fight over this lucrative trade with the Far East.
Cautions: Dilute well before use; for external use only. Using too much of this oil could overstimulate the kidneys. It may cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with the eyes should be avoided.
How to Use
- Add 2-5 drops in your diffuser
- Place a drop on your diffuser jewelry
- Add a drop to bath salts
- Always dilute before topical application
Blends Well With:
Bergamot, Grapefruit, Ylang Ylang, Fennel, Coriander, Clove, Clary Sage, Juniper, Sandalwood, Lemon, Lime, Lavender and Ginger
Steam distilled from Sri Lanka and certified organic.
