It’s my birthday and I’m not getting any younger. I never thought young looking skin would matter to me but guess what? It does! I am definitely biased, and believe that natural product will be just as or even more effective than your typical anti-aging products you see lining the shelves at most drug stores. When Rachel and I researched and formulated our Revitalize facial serum, we set out to create a 100% natural, effective facial serum to target dry and mature skin. We made sure it was loaded with anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals and a host of other nutrients that would give your body what it wants and needs to glow. Even though I also love our Balance Facial Serum, our Revitalize Facial Serum feels decadent on my face, especially in February when the weather takes a dry dive to -30!
Here’s why we chose the combination of oils for Revitalize Facial Serum…
Organic Pumpkin Seed Oil
High in naturally occurring zinc and other trace minerals, this organic oil is amazing for giving the body what it needs to repair damaged skin.
Camellia Seed Oil
Camellia seed is a very light oil that is able to penetrate moisture deep into the face without clogging pores. It also contains a unique constituent called squalene which is responsible for giving Camellia it’s reputation as an amazing anti-aging, anti-wrinkle oil.
Rosehip Oil
Because this oil helps with inflammation, rosehip oil is used in anti-aging face care formulas to help with puffy and irritated skin, This oil is also great for skin brightening and has been shown to reduce scarring and age spots. It has a super high Vitamin C content and a high Vitamin A content. This combo is why many will use this oil for skin regeneration formula’s including those that target wrinkles, rosacea and eczema.
Broccoli Seed Oil
Broccoli seed oil is a hydrating oil high in natural Vitamin A and absorbs easily into the skin. What makes this oil unique and powerful is the arachidonic acid profile, giving it the ability to soothe and calm skin and giving it a structure similar to the skin itself. Broccoli also is high in Vitamin C and Vitamin E, both of which are highly recognized for their ability to assist with signs of aging.
Meadowfoam Oil
This oil is ideal at providing nourishment for mature skin. It is similar in composition to the facial skin making it very neutral and non-irritating when applied. The structure of this oil also allows it to lock in moisture without clogging pores.
Black Current Seed Oil
When I first heard of this oil, I was hooked. It has naturally antibacterial properties, is super rich in antioxidants, helps combat environmental damage and has a very high vitamin and mineral profile. All of these things make black current seed oil a good choice for all skin types with the ability to calm irritations and combat signs of aging.
We could’ve just left our serum here and it would have been amazing, but, we wanted to take it one step further. To amp up the power of our facial serums, we infuse them over 6-8 weeks with botanicals so that the additional calming, soothing and reparative qualities of flowers like calendula, jasmine and rose can infuse into these already amazing oils.
And then we went even further…
Adding essential oils to this amazing facial potion bring another therapeutic level of awesomeness. For dry and mature skin, we chose to add in carrot seed, bergamot, frankincense, lime and clary sage. These oils are all great for pore health, have been used to treat signs of aging and are known by aromatherapists to help with age spots, scarring, and skin irritations. We ensure that our dilutions are safe and non-irritating. With this blend that was especially important as bergamot and lime can be photosensitive in certain amounts.
I’ve been using this oil pretty consistently for the last month and I am so happy with the look of my skin! In the middle of winter, during a cold snap, my skin is not flaky or irritated and I do feel like I look younger than my age on paper… and that make me smile since I still feel like I’m 25!
