Basic ingredients for those of you wanting a great carrier oil for your essential oils or for those of you wanting to try your own DIY project.
Beeswax: Beeswax is a great additive to your lotions and lip balms as it provides stabilization for oils that are normally liquid at room temperature. It provides a great barrier for the skin while still allowing it to breathe. Our Beeswax is sourced locally in Alberta and is very natural.
Non-Nano Zinc Oxide: The mesh size of our zinc 325 nm. This means that the zinc will not be absorbed into the skin. Zinc oxide is a naturally occurring mineral that is one of only 2 ingredients approved by the FDA to block both UVA and UVB rays. It’s also one of only 2 ingredients that the environmental working group considers to be safe in sunscreen for everyone (including babies under 12 months).
*Shea Butter: This oil is a great petroleum-free substitution for vaseline in your house. It is a very thick oil but is very breathable making it an awesome protective barrier that locks moisture in. Naturally high in Vit A and Vit E, shea is a nourishing oil that can help with stretch marks, skin strength and irritations.
*Cocoa Butter: Cocoa butter is another common yet amazing butter used in many lotion bases. Its benefits the skin are numerous but include, reduction in appearance of stretch marks, high in fatty acids, can relieve eczema conditions, and is high in antioxidants.
*Pumpkin Seed Oil: Pumpkin seed oil is rich in Vitamins E, A and K, Omega 3 & 6, zinc and other antioxidants. It is easily absorbed into the skin, making it less greasy than other oils. Regular application of this oil may lead to improvement in skin tone. Due to it’s high mineral, vitamin and antioxidant levels, many find it a great anti-aging oil. The selenium and zinc levels of this oil also help with complexion and skin regeneration. Pumpkin seed oil has also been shown to improve the skin’s collagen profile.
Jojoba Oil: Jojoba oil is one of our favorite carrier oils. Although it can be pricey its definitely worth it. There is much evidence that it helps to reduce the appearance of under eye circles and is one of the best oils for acne prone faces. Apply it direct with a couple drops of Frankincense for an amazing face moisturizer or use it as a base to a rich and luxurious lotion.
Sweet Almond Oil: An excellent Carrier oil which can be used as a massage oil to help the condition of skin or a few drops massaged into the scalp can be beneficial for hair growth. Almond oil is also a very common base oil for many lotions. It is naturally rich in Vitamin E which is what the skin needs to stay calm and regenerate. This is also a common oil for daily ayruvedic massage.
Castor Oil: Cold Pressed: Castor oil is used in many skin care recipes as it helps to moisturize the skin. Shown to improve hair growth, it’s gaining popularity on pinterest in DIY eyelash and hair growth recipes. This is also a great oil to use as a face cleanser. It has a very strong negative charge giving it great ability to trap dirt and bacteria on the face. Castor oil does not absord readily into the skin.
Grapeseed Oil: Many choose grapeseed oil as a carrier oil for essential oils as it has a very light scent. Also great for the face and in particular dark circles, grapeseed oil is a great oil to have around your house for all kinds skin care and DIY recipes.
Alcohol Free Witch Hazel: A great natural toner and astringent. Witch hazel is great at keeping cuts, scrapes and other woulds clean. Ours is alcohol free making it a great choice for those young and old.
