Jay and I frequently go on road trips for different shows across western Canada to spread the natural beauty love. We typically prefer to get to our destination the night before but every now and then we just aren’t able to. That usually leaves me slightly anxious and nervous about making it to where we need to go, set up and have enough time for me to beautify.
Jay, being her lovely self, assures me on every occasion what I look just fine. However, looking fine or ok is just not good enough for me. How I look typically effects how I feel and when I am sharing info on beauty, i want to look like I actually practice what I preach. More importantly though, I want to be confident when I am talking to someone, and how I feel about my appearance directly affects that. When I feel good about myself I am able to share that inner happiness with the world.
Self care and self love are directly linked and many of us forget or simply do not find the time to take care if ourselves. Feeling beautiful does not mean you have to go out and spend hundreds in a new make up kit, or a new wardrobe, I mostly wear second hand clothes and barely any makeup. So here are my simple tricks to feel pretty!
- Shower: Ok so don’t judge but lets be honest, most moms out there don’t get or make the time to shower every day. Nothing feels better than hopping in the shower or soaking in the tub, getting out and blow drying my hair. Without a stitch of makeup I can leave the house feeling amazing!
- Eyelashes: I’m a blondie, and so are my eyelashes. The problem for me is that my beautiful blue eyes look teeny tiny without putting anything on my lashes. This spring I was lucky enough to have a client that does eyelash extensions who was willing to trade Reiki for her services. The best part of getting my eyelashes done was that I could wake up in the morning, wash my face, brush my teeth and look great. My only downfall of lashes is finding the time to get fills, but if you have the money and the time it’s so great. If you are lucky enough to have beautiful natural lashes, even just a simple application of blush or bronzer can help you look and feel your best.
- You Time: Chill time to unwind and decompress is incredibly important for me. As a single mom of 2 boys who is the owner of 3 businesses and holds a part time job, I can get super stressed. I tend not to get enough sleep, worry to much, suffer from mild anxiety and do not take nearly enough time for ME. So I know when I can find the time to meditate, journal, or do something creative, my mind relaxes and so does my body. My inner light can shine a bit brighter and everything else melts away.
- Wear What You Feel Good In: I struggled for a lot of years with picking clothes I thought were trendy, even if it meant I felt trapped in them. This last year and a half I have been choosing clothes that visually make my heart smile, but that also feel great when I put them on. My sister told me this winter when we went out for family day, that I looked super mismatched but it looked really cute. If you know me, that’s kind of my style. I like funky meets, hippie, meets comfy, meets biker. Its not really a style, but its me and I feel wonderful.
These are my top 4 tips to feeling my best but we are all our own person and have to find what allows us to feel authentic and beautiful on the inside. What’s most important is that you feel like your outside matches your lovely beautiful inside, whatever that style, weight and hair color, is! Embrace your inner beauty and let it shine on the outside.
Love, Light and Purpose,
Rachel
